Having a shitty day? Put on your favorite pair of underwear. Don't ask questions. Just do it. Do you feel better? Of course you do. (Try a matching bra if you're not 100% satisfied...usually does the trick).
Have a wonderful day!!
This blog started out as an assignment for my AP Composition class. We had weekly assignments (which I didn't always do). I dreaded it at first, but now I love it. It was once named WiLd AdV3NtUr3s WiTh M3 or some variation of that. I changed the name in order to have a fresh start. Wonderstruck is a word that I fell in love with because of Taylor Swift's song Enchanted. This blog now is my source of venting. Truly it will be an insight to the inner-workings of my brain. Lucky you!

A Little Faith
My beloved Arkansas Razorbacks play Alabama today. We could use some prayers. I've got faith in my team, but it's not going to be easy especially considering last week's disaster. Go Hogs! Beat Bama! Roll Over Tide!!

That's So Random!
I wish I had an advice column in a newspaper. I think that'd be a fun job. By no means does this mean I'm good at giving advice. Of course, I'd like to think I'm an expert at it (then again, I'd like to think I'm an expert at everything I do). I was just sitting here pondering what it'd be like to be a "Dear Darlene" or something along those lines. Can you just imagine:
Dear Darlene,
Lately I have been feeling self-conscious about my sweaty arm pits. I wear deodorant and try my best not to do any physical activity to prevent excessive sweating, but nothing seems to be helping. I really like this boy and we have Biology together, but it's my last class of the day and by that time I've already sprouted pit stains. What should I do?
Sincerely, Pitty Patty
Dear Pitty Patty,
Have you tried clinical protection? Or just reaplying more than once in the morning? Spray yourself with febreeze. It works wonders on my dog. Maybe see a doctor. You should really get that checked out. It's nasty.
Best of luck, Darlene
So maybe that's not the career path I should choose. **For the record, I would never EVER say anything like that to anyone. I'm not that rude nor that blunt. I would try to say it in the nicest way possible.**
I guess the most troubling thing on my mind is the idea that in five years I will be graduating college and out in the real world. What if I chose the wrong major/career path! I'm only 18!!! How am I supposed to know what I want to do for the next forty years!! I guess I just need to trust my gut. Side note: I really do need to get better at that. No, I know I'd love to be an elementary school teacher. I just worry I wouldn't be good at it. But, I also know that God wouldn't have me doing something he didn't think I could handle.
Message of today: be confident in everything you do today and in life in general. You'll never have to face anything you can't handle.

I'm Not a Magician.
Do you believe in magic?
I feel like there is something special about people who still believe that somehow, somewhere there are little sparks of magic lying around or hiding, waiting to be discovered. I'm not talking about straight up fairies and wizards and witches (anyone else still devastated they didn't receive thier Hogwarts letter on their eleventh birthday? I get it...touchy subject...I feel your pain.) No, I'm talking about the magic in moments, signs, and true love. The kind of stuff that happens every once in a while or once in a lifetime. The kind of stuff we stumble upon rather than buy in bulk.
Some of us are lucky and have already found that little sliver of magic and hope that makes our lives happier and worthwhile. The rest aren't as lucky...yet. I'm a firm believer that with a positive attitude anything can happen and all of that mushy gushy "everything happens for a reason" stuff? Yeah. I believe that too.
Magic can be found in everyday tasks and the simplest, littlest things. A moment. A split second of pure joy or love that literally warms our entire bodies from the tippy top of our scalps to the rough, walked-on skin of our heals. The moment when you know without a fraction of a doubt in your heart or mind that you've just experienced magic.
It may seem silly to some of you. Who still believes in that stuff? Don't we all? Don't we all still wish that fairy tales came true. Maybe not directly, but in their own unique way. Don't we all wonder what it'd be like if our dreams were fulfilled? Don't we all have hope that what someone has forever told us was impossible can be possible? Hope. Magic. Love. They're all the same. They all fill us with such joy and such awesomeness. I can only pray that every single person in this whole spinning place we call the world can feel that spark. Just once. For a second. A millisecond. It's worth it. Life is worth it.
We live for moments. We live for magic.

Just try to tell me you don't believe in it. Even an ounce. A smidge. An electron. It's out there. Just believe.

Rushin'
Well, as you may have noticed, I never got around to writing a follow up post to my last one. I was originally going to write all about how much I was going to miss my boyfriend while we were at our respective colleges and how absence makes the heart grow fonder. While I still believe whole-heartedly in that statement, I feel like writing about Rush.
The beauty of a Southern school is not only the weather, football games, campus, and adorable guys that act like gentlemen with thick southern drawls, but it's in the friendships you make in the ever popular Greek life.
I love Rush.
I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it!
I have met some of the nicest girls in the entire world and to think these girls could potentially be my best friends and in the future, my bridesmaids...wow. College is above and beyond what I expected and I couldn't be happier with my decision.
Although, it's also the most nerve-wracking experience I've ever gone through. When have I ever spent so much time touching up my make up or perfecting my hair? Never. When have I ever cared about what a group of girls thought about me more than what I thought about myself? Hardly ever. It's not high school, but it is still something else. I'm not complaining. I kind of like it in a weird way. I just don't know how to deal with the idea that I want to be in one sorority so badly and they may not want me back. My fear of rejection is taking over and I can only hope that I have done enough and pleased them enough to become one of their sisters.
There's nothing more I can do.
Pray. That's the only thing I can think of.
Rush is something that one only understands once she has gone through the process herself. And I'm so glad I've chosen to be a part of it.

Changes 2
My oh my, it has been forever since I blogged last. Maybe not forever, but it sure as heck feels like forever. I last posted about changes. Not to be a repeat blogger, but I feel like that's what I need to talk about again. 2012-2013 will be bringing a dozen changes to my family. Come December, my family will be moving to New Jersey. My dad got a new job with his company and they plan to leave Minnesota right around Christmas time. Seeing as I will be headed off to college this fall, the move doesn't affect me as much as my two younger siblings (Mikey a soon-to-be sophomore and Caroline a soon-to-be fourth grader). However, once summer rolls around and next year's breaks, my home will no longer be where my friends and boyfriend are, but rather on the east coast.
Fortunately, my entire extended family lives on the east coast. Christmases and Thanksgivings will be bigger and just like they were when we leaved in Jersey when I was five. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to be able to spend more time with my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents, but am I really going to be hanging out with them everyday in the summer? No. My cousins have their own lives, and I'm sorry, but what nineteen year old hangs out with 70 year olds all the time. They're not exactly ideal to go out with considering their bed time is when you are just leaving your house. No, I love my family, but at this point in my life, I love my friends and boyfriend more.
Oh and on top of that: work. I had the best job set-up for next summer, but now... poof! Gone. Vanished. No such luck. Perhaps if I live with a friend for the summer... but then it leaves the whole car situation... son of a nutcracker! You see my predicament?
This post is to serve mostly as a miniature vent session. In about thirty seconds I will begin a second post having to do with a "glass-half-full" view on long distance relationships! 11 hours away from the guy of my dreams....yikes. Oh, and plus no home-base town to meet in during breaks and summer.... Well, if it's meant to be it'll all work out, right? Praying starts...now.
