2 Million Reasons why I WANT TO DIE (but not actually die...)

Yes. Yes we are seen as lazy, do-nothing, slobby failures, but you know what? WE HAVE LIVES! Most of us anyway... I'm grateful for 2 Million Minutes and for "I Just Wanna Be Average" because it called to my attention that I am in-fact a blamer. Sometimes. I don't think that we are dumber or less motivated than the students of other countries. I think that we have different ideas of how we want to live our lives. It seemed to me that the students from China and India ALL have their lives together unlike us procrastinators over here in America. I blame the maker of the movie for that one. Slick move, Ace. Way to make me feel like I have no future because I don't study for 20 plus hours every week or practice the violin or already know exactly what I am going to do for a living! (I have it narrowed down to three!!!!) The !s were necessary... Anyway the main thing I got out of this movie and the various readings about our generation's lack of motivation etc. was that I (and probably some of you too) want different things out of life. I want to look back at high school and college and think, "Man, that was a blast!" I'm not saying that I don't want to be successful and I truly believe that to be successful you have to work hard. I just don't see how spending all of your free time locked up in your stuffy bedroom studying is fulfilling. I want more.

"I want more." To even further add to an American stereotype: greedy. We all blame our teachers when we get a bad grade. Maybe not every time or anymore for that matter, but we've all done it. I don't think this makes us losers. And just because we can be lazy doesn't mean we don't try hard when we want to. I know I do. So hows about we all just try to be the best we can be and getterdone!

This post seems somewhat disorganized, but it's due in seven minutes so I'm just going to leave it....ENJOY! That is a command... I wish I was funny.

  1. Julia you are definitely funny! I love this! I like basically, kind of, sort of wrote the same thing in my blog! I'm glad someone else felt like they were proud to be an American after watching Two Million Minutes because we have so many different options ahead of us rather than having our whole life already planned out for us. Great thinking :)
